INDIA LONG SERVICE MEDAL FOR 9 YEARS – 1971.

Circular cupro-nickel medal with bar and clasp suspension; the face with the Ashokan Lions above the Indian National motto ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ (Satyameva Jayate = Truth Alone Prevails) in Hindi characters, circumscribed ‘Dirgh Seva’ (Long Service) in Hindi characters and ‘LONG SERVICE’ above, ‘Naw Varsh (nine years) in Hindi characters and ‘9 YEARS’ below; the reverse with the Triservices crest, being a naval anchor, crossed Indian swords and an eagle with wings outstretched for the three branches of the Indian Armed Forces, a radiant rising sun above; on replaced correct ribbon. The medal was instituted by the President of India on 19 April 1971 to be awarded to members of the Armed Forces for nine years diligent blameless service. WEIGHT OF THE MEDAL – 22.7 GMS.

GEORGE V KAISAR I HIND  MINIATURE SILVER MEDAL. Weight – 5.4 GMS APPROX. HEIGHT – 29.5 MM APPROX.

The Kaisar-I-Hind Medal was established by Queen Victoria in 1900. It was awarded to any person (of either sex) who had rendered useful service in or for British India. The medal was an oval shaped badge, in gold for the First Class (Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal), and silver for the Second (Kaisar-i-Hind Silver Medal), with the Royal Cipher on the obverse side, and the words “Kaisar-i-Hind – for Public Service in India” on the reverse side.

The most famous recipient of this medal is Mohandas Gandhi, who was awarded the Kaiser-i-Hind in 1915 for his contribution to ambulance services in South Africa. Gandhi returned the medal in 1920 as part of the national campaign protesting the massacre at JallianWalla Bagh.
